Help Build Justice and Opportunity

The Jimmy C. Gardner Foundation for Social Justice and Human Rights

Empowering Change Together

The Jimmie C. Gardner Foundation for Social Justice and Civil Rights exists to empower real change and restore lives affected by incarceration. Our mission addresses the full spectrum of barriers that returning citizens face, from housing instability and mental health to unemployment and family separation. Guided by Jimmie Gardner's lived experience - wrongfully incarcerated for 27 years - we have created programs that transform stories of adversity into movements for hope. Every step we take is rooted in community, transparency, and the belief that "Freedom is only the beginning." By supporting the Foundation, you join a movement that stands for resilience, justice, and meaningful opportunity for all.

Founder & Social Justice Advocate

Jimmie C. Gardner

The Jimmie C. Gardner Foundation, based in Atlanta, GA, is led by Founder & Social Justice Advocate Jimmie C. Gardner, a two-time exoneree who turned the hardship of nearly 30 years of wrongful incarceration into a movement for systemic change. Drafted by the Chicago Cubs before his conviction, Jimmie rebuilt his life by earning three college degrees during his sentence and teaching himself the law. Since his exoneration, he has become a trusted leader in criminal justice reform, speaking nationally and helping establish programs like Georgia's first Conviction Integrity Unit. His work is grounded in personal experience and recognized across civic and advocacy circles, including honors from the Atlanta City Council. Jimmie's vision shapes every aspect of the Foundation's mission: restoring dignity and opportunities for men returning home from prison. His journey reminds us all that freedom is only the beginning - and every act of support helps transform lives, families, and communities.
